La Dame de L’Hospital
The HOSPITAL grapes underwent a meticulous harvest, reaching optimum ripeness at the end of September for the Merlot and on October 6 for the Cabernet Sauvignon, ensuring the grapes’ full flavor potential.
The soil composition is characterized by a very fine terroir of clayey gravel resting on a limestone subsoil, imparting unique qualities to the wine. The acceptance blend is a harmonious combination of 90% Merlot Noir and 10% Cabernet-Sauvignon.
Spanning 9.5 hectares, the vineyard yields 47 hectolitres per hectare, with a carefully managed density of 5,500 vines per hectare. The ageing process is a thoughtful balance, with 20% of the wine matured in barrels and 80% in stainless steel vats, aiming to preserve the inherent fruit characteristics.
The culmination of these efforts results in a production of 60,000 bottles, each embodying the distinctive qualities of the HOSPITAL vineyard’s grapes, creating a wine that reflects the artistry and dedication to craftsmanship.
