Château de L’Hospital
This wine estate encompasses a surface area of 12 hectares, with a planting density of 5,500 vines per hectare. The soil composition consists of a fine clay-gravel layer above a limestone subsoil. The grape harvest took place from September 21 to October 8, 2019, ensuring full ripeness. The yield reached 33 hectolitres per hectare. The winemaking process involves meticulous sorting to eliminate less than perfectly ripe berries and vegetation. Following destemming and gentle crushing, the grapes are transferred to temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with a vatting period lasting 15 to 21 days based on grape variety and harvest batches.
The aging process occurs in barrels for 12 months, with each grape variety aged separately. Notably, 30% of the barrels are renewed annually. The anticipated production is 46,000 bottles, scheduled for bottling in February 2022. Upon tasting, the wine exhibits a ruby-red color and an expressive nose featuring ripe red fruits complemented by toasted and spicy notes. The palate reveals a supple attack, showcasing elegant fruit flavors, and concludes with a silky finish characterized by harmonious tannins.
