Progress with biodynamics
We believe that biodynamic viticulture can help vines live more serenely in the face of environmental constraints (climate, soil) and strengthen their natural defenses against cryptogamic diseases:
Dynamic organic agriculture, known as biodynamics, is an approach to farming based on the interaction of the different forces of nature: mineral, vegetable, animal and human.
Our wine is certified organic
Today, the vineyard is certified organic and promotes biodiversity in the vines to create a real ecosystem that replaces phytosanitary products. In fact, each living being contributes its part to limiting the risk of vine diseases. To take this approach a step further, the estate uses biodynamic practices. It seeks to strengthen the vines by focusing on the interactions between the various natural influences (mineral, plant, animal and human). This involves specific preparations based on herbal teas (nettles, yarrow, chamomile, etc.) or silica, as well as respect for lunar cycles, which influence all living things - in the same way as they influence the tides.
In addition to showing greater respect for living organisms and the soil, this approach enables the estate to produce the best grapes possible. In fact, all this work in the vineyards (organic and biodynamic farming, tilling the soil, etc.) allows the plant to flourish and take deeper root. As a result, the vines are more resistant and produce better grapes, ever closer to their terroir.
Château de l'Hospital's modernist approach doesn't stop at production, however. It has given rise to the Terre et Vins d'Avenir Charter, which aims to promote the social and solidarity economy on a local scale, notably by welcoming young people in difficulty into the teams, or a wider reflection on the management of the estate's waste.
